St Aloysius’ College, Rozelle (SACR) is our dedicated campus for Year 9 students. A program where they will have an immersive experience designed specifically to meet the challenges of young men of their age.

The Campus is an integral dimension of our strategic vision which is to ‘develop a deliberately designed learning experience for middle years of schooling’ (Human Excellence Strategic Plan 2021-2025)

This vision becomes reality in 2023 with the establishment of our newly re-purposed Rozelle Campus. The former St Joseph's Catholic Girls' School which closed in 1965, now serves as the home of an innovative new curriculum that reflects our Ignatian spirituality in the formation of men for others.

The Rozelle campus enables for a holistic approach to learning, where we make visible the interconnectedness of the learning cycle, embedding authentic and community engagement and instilling in our young men agency for their learning journey.

I am excited by the innovative curriculum, the new physical space and the opportunity for deeper learning. Above all, I am eager to see student choice and agency become a central part of the schooling experience in Year 9. Students have often been denied a genuine voice in their own education - at Rozelle, I hope we can assist students to discover their passions and pursue them in an authentic and impactful way.

I look forward to the excitement and challenge of working with our foundation staff and first ever student cohort of SAC Rozelle. Working with a smaller Year 9 cohort will most certainly lead to a more connected relationship between students and staff.

This will be akin to a company "start-up" for a school! Excited about the journey (and challenges) ahead.

The opportunity to be at the frontier of a new campus introducing our students to a process focussed on discovery learning is both exciting and unique. It is a privilege to be working and learning alongside the Rozelle team to implement this innovative model of education.

As a long serving member of St Aloysius' College the Rozelle campus offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in genuine educational reform that seeks to prioritise opportunities for our students to become deep and autonomous learners.

The Rozelle campus is special for me as an educator as I have the opportunity to focus my time on each and every boy as an individual at this particular stage in their learning. It allows me to know them as learners and build relationships that are authentic whilst mentoring them through their academic and pastoral endeavors.

The Rozelle campus is special for me as it enables the boys to delve deeper into certain ideas and concepts. This allows the nurturing for a love of life long learning. Additionally, having a single cohort on campus creates the opportunity for staff to better foster students' academic success and pastoral wellbeing with the unique traits of the Year 9 students at the fore.

The deep learning pedagogical approach develops student agency, builds resilience, and drives their curiosity. To me it feels like we are one big family as pastoral relationships are being fostered in a way that I hope will leave lasting impact on the students.

The Year 9 Program

The Year 9 Program is a holistic and integrated approach which embraces the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm of experience, reflection and action in all the dimensions of human and spiritual growth. All four pillars of an Aloysian education are delivered to the students at the Rozelle Campus. This includes faith formation, academic excellence, cura personalis and a broad range of Co-Curricula offerings.

SACR Campus Facilities

The main Campus includes six (6) different classrooms catering for the 3 learning pathways.

The Campus houses student amenities, music tutorial rooms, staff areas and an outdoor recreation space for students.

The Campus encompasses classrooms in the historic old Parish school in Gordon Street.

The Campus will also have access and use of St Joseph’s Parish Church for liturgical and musical events.

Local community open spaces also provide students with access to recreational activities.
